Tata Marcopolo’ s approach of manufacturing FBVs meets the new government norms in terms of body building accreditation – AIS norms (Automotive Industry Standards). Tata Marcopolo bus models are duly tested for bus body performance & reliability under the bus body code, basis stringent test procedures both at component level and fully built bus level. They are also homologated through the Automotive Research Authority of India (ARAI).
Automobile Corporation of Goa Ltd. (ACGL), the first major engineering unit to be set up in Goa, India was jointly promoted in 1980 by Tata Motors Limited and EDC Limited (Economic Development Corporation of Goa). The company manufactures Sheet Metal Components, assemblies in Dharwad, Karnataka and Jejuri, Maharashtra and bus coaches at its factories situated at Honda & Bhuimpal in Goa. The company is in operation since 1982 and is a major supplier of pressings, assemblies and bus coaches to Tata Motors. The bus division has capacity to build 10,000 bodies per year from its two plants in Goa.
Since inception, the company has sold more than 57,000 bus bodies for domestic and export customers. Company is accredited with TS-16949 and is an “A” and “B” category bus body builder certified by Central Institute of Road Transport (CIRT). Company caters to all makes of Chassis Bus Fabrication as per latest Bus Code norms and C.M.V. regulations. Company has proven record of safety, comfort and durability of buses and catering to the School, Staff, Luxury, State Transport Corporation (STU), Hybrid and amphibious segment.
Excellent production facilities, highly skilled and continuously trained manpower of engineers, technicians and other staff have ensured world class products and services. The company has in-house R & D facility for Prototype and new technology development recognized by DSIR for buses and sheet metal components. The company is professionally managed and the company’s stock is listed on The Bombay Stock Exchange. Tata Motors is thus fully equipped through its Tata Marcopolo and ACGL subsidiaries to fulfil the country’s need of completely built, safe and comfortable buses in the coming years.
